The only way that I can explain how I came to work at Maple Street is that God wanted me here. He had a plan for me that I never saw coming. I have lived many places in the past due to different circumstances, but I had finally gone home back to Louisiana for the past couple of years. I wasn’t seeking out another opportunity to move again. Well, that is not what God had planned for me. I was working at a restaurant as a server and was very unhappy with my job. Of course I thought of looking for another job, but day after day went by without me putting any effort into changing my own course in life. One day I got a call from my stepmother just to talk about my brother. One thing led to another and we got to talking about Maple Street. At the time, her daughter was the Community Leader here at our Downtown Savannah location. My stepmother jokingly said that I should move to Georgia and work for Maple Street. I laughed it off at first, but after a few days, I really put some thought into it. I prayed about it and it just became clearer and clearer that maybe this was a good move for me. And before I knew it, I was moving two weeks later to Georgia. I started out on fry station, moved my way to make, then lead make, then after a few months I was given the opportunity to become Assistant Community Leader.
After a couple of months the opportunity presented itself to become Community Leader. I jumped at the opportunity. Working at Maple Street has changed my life in so many ways. It is not only a career, but a big family that would do almost anything for you. I can’t express how much one phone call changed my life. My stepmother would call that “providence”. I would tend to agree with her. God always has a plan. We just need to listen.
