I started my Maple Street journey fresh out of high school at 18 years old. It was my very first job! I was in recovery from a serious illness I’d been struggling with for two years and wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do next. I had absolutely NO IDEA what plans God had in store for me when I first got the job.
Working at Maple Street was one of the hardest things I’d ever done, but it proved to be the absolute best thing for me. I started to gain back my strength and my hunger to grow and lead grew and grew.
Also, it was during this time that Maple Street brought another huge blessing into my life, my husband, Josh! (Fun fact, we served Maple Street coffee and biscuits at our wedding and a lot of the guests were team members and regulars who we had grown to know as family over the years! The Fleming Island team actually bought us a sign for our first home that says “I love you like biscuits and gravy”. It’s safe to say that biscuits have pretty much taken over our lives! One thing that is amazing about Maple Street is our commitment to grow and invest in our people. Our leadership team genuinely loves and cares for every single Maple Street team member. Once I expressed interest in being a community leader, so many doors opened! One of the best experiences I’ve been given by Maple Street is the time I spent as a trainer. Josh and I traveled for 6 months and got to open stores in Knoxville, Duluth, Greenville, St Pete, and more! We loved getting to serve so many communities and experience so many different places.
It was my dream to be the Community Leader of a Jacksonville store but I waited and prayed, careful not to get my hopes up too much in case God called us somewhere else. The day I found out that I would get to lead the Jax Beach store was one of the best days of my life. This team and community have been the biggest blessing and have completely changed my life. I genuinely didn’t think it was possible to love coming to work this much.God is and has been so faithful to me and Josh and we are so thankful that Maple Street found us.
One of Maple Street’s traditions is to sign the back of the wooden maple leaf hanging in every store right before it opens it’s doors for the first time. For every maple leaf I’ve signed, I’ve written an excerpt from my favorite story in the Bible, found in 1 st Samuel, which reads “Thus far the LORD has helped us.” I fully believe that God’s hands are at work in these communities through Maple Street and I’m so excited to get to be a part of our mission, to help people, serve others, and be a part of the community.
