In the early part of 2017, my wife and I felt as if the Lord might be calling us to do ministry outside of the local church for a season. Not knowing what that would look like, we committed to praying for God to provide clarity. In the meantime, we began foster care. We were placed with a sibling set: a two year old boy and eight year old girl. The two year old was in an Early Learning Center, and he had two other foster children in his class.Their mom became a family friend, and my wife and her were able to connect through the journey of foster care. Towards the end of 2017, she invited us over to her house to celebrate the adoption of one of her little ones. It was there that I met her father, Scott Moore, the founder and CEO of Maple Street. As I heard Mr. Scott share his heart for Maple Street, and learned about the mission to help people, serve others, and be part of the community, I immediately felt as if this was what the Lord was leading my family to do. I left full time ministry in December of 2017 and immediately began training to open our store in Concord in May 2018.
